Please note that multiple downtown events can increase the time needed to secure parking convenient to both venues, especially the Balboa Theatre. Always allow adequate time to arrive and find suitable parking for the event you are attending.
Balboa Theatre
There are multiple parking options within walking distance of the Balboa Theatre in the Gaslamp Quarter. However, due to popularity of the Gaslamp and other special events in the evenings and on weekends, parking can be at a premium and traffic may be congested in the area, so please plan ample time to arrive for the performance.
The Westfield Horton Plaza parking structure is the largest parking facility near the Balboa Theatre. While the main entrance at corner of 4th Avenue & F Street is the closest to the Balboa, accessing this parking structure at the corner of 3rd Avenue & G Street is frequently less congested and, therefore, quicker. If you park in Westfield's Horton Plaza, there are several options available for you regarding the cost of parking:
- Vouchers for four hours of parking for $10 are available from our lobby staff during events.
- Patronize Horton Plaza's Napa Valley Grill or Panda Inn restaurants and receive parking validations for four hours of complimentary parking.
- Patronize other Horton Plaza restaurants or shops, and then self-validate your parking ticket for three hours of complimentary parking. Kiosks are operational until 9 pm nightly on 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors in Horton Plaza.
- Pay the non-discounted parking rate of $6 per hour (rate subject to change without notice).
The NBC 7/39 office tower at 225 Broadway (2nd Avenue & Broadway) offers convenient underground paid parking. This parking is located an equivalent of approximately two short blocks from the Balboa Theatre.

Concourse Parking Structure |
Civic Theatre
The Concourse Parkade, officially named the Evan V. Jones Parkade, provides on-site parking for the Theatre. This eleven story structure accommodates over 1,150 parking spaces, with Accessible spaces available on every floor, and is situated at the corner of 1st Avenue and A Street. Take elevators to the Street (S) level to enter the Theatre.
There is a height limitation of 6 feet, 8 inches for all vehicles entering the Parkade. If your vehicle exceeds these limits, please utilize one of the open-air parking lots or street parking.
The most efficient entrance is located at 1st Avenue and B Street. You may also enter from 2nd Avenue and A Street or 3rd Avenue and B Street, although the 2nd and 3rd Avenue entrances may become congested close to show time, so use of the 1st Avenue entrance is suggested.
For most events, Advance Parking Passes (valid for the Evan V. Jones Parkade only), may be purchased at the same time you purchase your Civic Theatre event tickets. For additional information on this, please contact Ticketing Services. Advance Sale Parking Passes are not available for week-day (Monday-Friday) matinee performances.
Current parking rates for the Concourse Parkade (all subject to change) are:

Monday–Friday Evening Hours (after 5:30pm) - $10.00 per vehicle, flat rate
Saturday, Sunday & Holidays - $10.00 per vehicle, flat rate
Designated Accessible Parking spaces are available on 3rd Avenue, adjacent to the Theatre. All vehicles utilizing these spaces must display a valid Accessible Needs placard.
Limited street parking may be available around the Balboa Theatre and the Civic Theatre, depending on your arrival time. Please be sure to check meter times before using these spaces. Most metered spaces are monitored Monday–Saturday, 8:00am to 6:00pm and multiple citations can be issued to a vehicle parked at an expired meter. City of San Diego parking control citations are also issued for parking in passenger and loading zones. Additional parking lots are also available within a few blocks of both the Balboa Theatre and the Civic Theatre.
If attending a matinee performance or other activities during the week (Monday–Friday), please be aware that downtown workers occupy a majority of the available parking near the Theatre. You may wish to take advantage of the convenient San Diego Trolley and ride it to the Civic Center stop at 3rd Avenue and C Street. If you plan to drive, please allow ample time to secure parking and be prepared to pay premium daytime prices during the week.
